Alina Steele is a devoted educator and spends much of her time teaching flute. As the founder and director of the San Diego Flute Academy, Mrs. Steele teaches and supports her private flute students to reach their performance goals. Alina Steele is also on the music faculty at Palomar College, where she is a professor of flute and plays with the Palomar Symphony. Alina Steele’s flute students are some of California's finest young musicians winning top level competitions such as MTAC's VOCE competitions, San Diego Youth Artist Competitions, and earning spots in the top youth orchestras of San Diego Youth Symphony, Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra, Civic Orchestra, and All-State.
Mrs. Steele received a Bachelor of Music in flute performance and a Bachelor of Science in Sound Recording Technology from DePaul University School of Music in Chicago. She has also earned a Master of Music degree in music technology from New York University. Very fortunate to have studied with some of the most highly regarded flutists of our time, Mrs. Steele’s principal flute teachers have included Linda Chesis, Mary Stolper, Jennifer Clippert, and Robert Dick. Alina Steele continues to be an active performer in chamber and orchestral settings and she performs with the Swarmius Ensemble as Flutastica.
Alina Steele has served on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Flute Guild from 2016-2023 and has been a member of the Music Teachers' Association of California since 2016. Alina Steele is also on the music faculty at Palomar College, where she is a professor of flute and plays with the Palomar Symphony.
In addition to flute performance and teaching, Alina Steele also studied composition and computer music with Jerica Oblak, Ira Newborn, Joel Chadabe, and Morton Subotnick. A former audio designer/editor at CBS in New York City, Alina Steele specializes in post production audio for video. Her work has been heard on Showtime, HBO, CBS, CBS Sports Network, and ESPN. In addition to sound design, mixing, and original music composition, Alina Steele has recorded radio and television audio for many celebrities, including Mariah Carey and Cher!
