Week 4 -
August 1-5, 2016
Each morning started with basic music theory and ear training. The performance focus varied each day, including preparation of orchestral excerpts such as Beethoven's Leonore Overture, and Brahms' 4th Symphony. Solo repertoire was mixed and included solos for flute and orchestra such as the Chaminade Concertino and Doppler's Hungarian Fantasy. The advanced students formed a flute quarter and worked on music by Kuhlau. Younger students worked on duets and several popular songs arranged for flute, including The Beatles' "Hey Jude." All students had the opportunity to perform for each other several times, with the piano accompaniment provided by the software SmartMusic.

Live Performance with Electronics
MUSIC TECHNOLOGY CAMP
Taught by guest instructor, David Kemp, the class focused on the use of Ableton Live software. The students collaborated on creating an electronic music track and then each student improvised on their flute over the electronic music. Each student wrote a musical line using a different software instrument/sound. Flute performances were improvised live and not prepared.
